An individual who spiked candy with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males aged nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was held in detention before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the man had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "This year his family member had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They chose" to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said materials including baby oil, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining the police response of the situation.
The prosecutor explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement again.
She said the man then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
